Joint European Associations Meeting EFO, FORE, OcEAN and EROP

Joint European Associations Meeting EFO, FORE, OcEAN and EROP at the iO’s Annual Convention: 3 – 5 October 2014

Last weekend's International osteopathic conference in Runnymede, England marked a new era of osteopathic collaboration across borders and associations, not only in Europe but also worldwide.

It was the first time that nine osteopathic organisations from around the globe met together under one roof.

It was a fantastic feeling meeting Osteopaths and other healthcare workers involved with osteopathy from all over the world and realise that that we are all in the main working together on the common goal of promoting osteopathy with one united voice.

The pinnacle for the EFO was the joint meeting of the four European associations/bodies during which the presidents/shares of the EFO, EROP, FORE and OsEAN talked about the roles and goals of their associations.

This was followed by round table discussions with the members of these associations.

The clear message that came out of these discussions was the want and need to communicate and collaborate across borders as well as the importance of driving research.

The meetings all seemed to have A positive air about them, with delegates mingling around, attending lectures or rushing off to meetings with both old and new colleagues.

The experience is one that I hope we will continue to foster and replicate for years to come.
